Our Pedigree

Client Money Protection (CMP)

The Client Money Protection (CMP) Scheme is a compensation scheme run by Propertymark which provides compensation to landlords, tenants and other clients should an agent misappropriate their rent, deposit or other client funds.

As a professional body, raising standards and providing consumer protection are key factors; the Client Money Protection Compensation Scheme plays an integral part in this.

Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA)

Alexander & Co. are members of The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) – the only professional and regulatory body solely concerned with residential lettings. It keeps members up-to-date with changes in legislation and the many other requirements for a successful lettings practice.

In order to comply with ARLA membership requirements, an ARLA member has to have been in the residential lettings industry for at least two years, employ ARLA qualified staff, hold separate client financial accounts and prove these are professionally managed and regularly audited, and hold professional indemnity insurance cover to comply with the requirements of ARLA Bonding Scheme.

National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA)

Alexander & Co. are members of The National Association of Estate Agents – the governing body that regulates its members in the course of their work in the property industry whether it is house sales, lettings or building work. Membership of the association requires qualifications, professional competence and integrity, which is established beyond doubt. The Association Bonding Insurance Scheme protects the public against loss of deposit through fraud by members or their staff. The Association also offers a complaint procedure for the general public should one of its members be seen to breach the Rules of Conduct. They will arbitrate and levy any fines or punishments that are proved against that member through disciplinary procedures. This gives the public the reassurance that NAEA members’ integrity and competence is beyond doubt and their clients’ interests paramount.

We are therefore bound by the Association’s Rules of Conduct and these can be supplied upon request from either Alexander & Co. or the National Association themselves at the following address:

 The Property Ombudsman (TPO)

The Property Ombudsman (TPO) scheme has been providing consumers and property agents with an alternative dispute resolution service since 1990. The Ombudsman’s resolutions are designed to achieve a full and final settlement of the dispute and all claims made by either party.

 National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS)

Alexander & Co. are approved members of the National Approved Letting Scheme. This scheme ensures that agents comply with defined service standards and have in place a customer complaints procedure underpinned by an arbitration mechanism, Professional Indemnity Insurance and client money protection cover. It is a voluntary organisation established in 1999 and the objective of the scheme is to give Landlords the confidence to let their property through qualified agents who, in joining the scheme, have agreed to meet a set of minimum standards for letting and management agents.

Tenancy Deposit Scheme for Regulated Agents (TDSRA)

Alexander & Co. subscribe to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme for Regulated Agents (TDSRA) which has been developed to ensure that the deposits they hold are protected and that disputes about their return are resolved swiftly, inexpensively and impartially.
Under the Scheme:

• Deposits will be protected during the tenancy

• Where there is no dispute at the end of the tenancy, deposits will be returned promptly

• Where there is a dispute regarding the return of the deposit it will be dealt with fairly by the Independent Complaints Examiner (ICE)

• The ICE will make his decision quickly, and the deposit will be paid without unnecessary delay.

 Safe Agent

Alexander Estate Agents is a SAFEagent. SAFE – Safe Agent Fully Endorsed – is a mark denoting firms that protect landlords and tenants money through a client money protection scheme.
